Our school league started eight weeks ago at the start of September and reached its climax on Thursday 12 November when the Bath Time Boys faced off against Ronaldo Chops to see who would be crowned school league champions for 2015.

There was great excitement in the build up to the final heightened when, owing to bad weather on Wednesday, it had to be postponed for a day. Both sides had outstanding players and most observers agreed that the decider was too close to call. Would the “Boys” strength and speed be enough to counteract the high scoring forwards of the “Chops”? We were soon to find out.

Mr Mulligan refereed and from the moment the ball was thrown in there was end to end action. Mr Osborne videoed the match for posterity and our expert photographer Ms Smith was there to capture the action in pictures. As forecast the exchanges were hard and tight and in a low scoring first half the teams eventually went in to the half time break level at four points each. The match was on a knife edge.

Who would make the difference? Step up Nathan. In a devastating burst of forward play he exploded with four goals  devastating the valiant Bath Time Boys. Try as they might they could not reduce the deficit and at the final whistle it was Killian’s, Ronaldo Chops, who had the honours.

Great credit must go to both teams for the manner and spirit in which the game was played. There were tears and cheers afterwards but it was wonderful to see our young players shake hands and embrace  in a heart warming display of sportsmanship. In fact this has been a hallmark throughout the league campaign and augurs well for the future.

Well done to all the boys who took part, commiserations to our losing finalists and hearty congratulations to the the new champions for 2015. Click HERE for pictures
