St Peter’s NS Dromiskin staff, pupils and families congratulate the Louth Under 20 team on being crowned Leinster Football Champions 2025. Their victory over Meath with an impressive end score of 2-19 to 1-15 has put an end to a 44 year wait to lift silverware in the Wee County. On that occassion the team captain was Pat McConnon ( Young Irelanders) and the team manager was Frank Lynch.
It is with particular pride that we see our own past pupils be a part of this glorious history, namely Cormac McKeown, Pearse Grimes Murphy, Adam Cassidy and Ben McKeown. We acknowledge their exceptional commitment, dedication and talent as was evident from the earliest of days when they played for Cumann na mBunscol competitions for St Peter’s. Indeed Cormac and Ben are the sons of our Chairperson, Catriona Mc Keown. The links between each of these families and The Joes go back several generations. This success is built on years of promoting GAA in our community, training at underage level, coaching and coaxing on the rainiest of days and believing that one day- we will get an opportunity, as witnessed on Wednesday evening in Conleth Park, Newbridge.
We watched the Under 20 Leinster Final last year in Parnell Park against the same opponents. It showed true grit and determination from this year’s squad to outclass and outperform the Meath team this year. Sheer magic for all the Louth spectators and a euphoric atmosphere when your captain, Sean Callaghan lifted the trophy.
Thank you to Fergal Reel, manager and all the Louth Squad but especially Cormac, Pearse, Adam and Ben for giving us this wonderful memory.
An Lú Abú!
