Leinster Cups and Champions visit St Peter’s NS

It was a very exciting day for the staff and pupils  when the GAA Leinster Cups and past pupils on the Under 20s squad and Minor squad visited St Peter’s NS Dromiskin.

The children proudly wore their red and white and made sure to wave their Wee County flags as Cormac McKeown, Pearse Grimes Murphy, Adam Cassidy, Ben Mc Keown, Oisín Reidy and Matthew Kieran arrived with the Delaney Cup and the Flood Cup.

We acknowledge the historical win of the Louth Senior Team on winning the Leinster Final, Louth 3-14 Meath 1-18 on 11th May, becoming the Kings of Leinster for the first time since 1957.

Today was a special celebration for past pupils, Cormac, Pearse, Adam and Ben as we are so proud to have our own lads from Dromiskin on the Under 20s squad. Their path to victory including winning against Longford, Wicklow, Dublin and meeting Meath in the Leinster Final. They won 2-19 to 1-15 on a glorious sunny evening at Cedral St Conleth’s, Newbridge, Co. Kildare. The support from the Dromiskin community on that evening was tremendous and the road home was short as our spirits were high on their achievement. They continued their journey, with a one point win over Mayo and our own Dromiskin men were outstanding at that match. Cormac recalled how he passed the ball to Pearse and knew how Pearse could finish the move with a swift kick of the ball, landing it in the back of the net. This move had long been practised since their early days playing at St Peter’s NS. We watched the Louth vs Tyrone match on their All-Ireland Day and even though the journey came to an end, we were so delighted to be a part of your story as eager spectators.

Well done to the Louth Minor Team on reaching the Leinster Final this year. Although it didn’t go their way, it has not deterred their ambition to continue training and developing their fitness and skills.

We are immensely honoured that Barry Teather took the time to bring the Delaney Cup and the Flood Cup to our school and we wish all the footballers every success in the future. The year 2025 will always be remembered in Louth GAA and you have made history.
