First Communion May 2023 News

St Peter’s NS Board of Management, staff and pupils congratulate the boys and girls of second class who made their First Communion on Saturday 20th May. We enjoyed this memorable moment in your life and we hope you had a wonderful day with your families and friends. I would like to acknowledge the great preparation made in order for you to receive the sacrament and I thank your class teacher, Ms Shauna Mulroy and SNA, Gráinne for their guidance and dedication in bringing you on this journey. We also acknowledge the wonderful altar display designed and created by Orlagh and Anne.

The school choir had practised for many hours under the guidance of Ms Loughran and Ms Rodgers and myself, and their enthusiasm to give their best for every hymn was wonderful. Their rendition of A Mhuire Mháthair and Bring Flowers of the Rarest was particularly beautiful. Míle buíochas.

A word of Thank You to Fr Pat McEnroe on providing pastoral care throughout the year to second class children. We thank Kevin the sacristan for looking after the church and making sure all was in order on the day. Thank you to Edel, our secretary for preparing the First Communion booklet. A special word of thanks to the parents of the second class children who decorated the altar with a lovely array of flowers.

The occasion finished off with a selection of treats and refreshments arranged by the Parents’ Council which was much appreciated.

We wish Ms Mulroy every happiness and good health as she takes leave from school in preparation for the birth of her baby. We will be thinking of you and keeping you in our prayers every day.
