Cumann na mBunscol Louth Schools Quiz Champions

Comhghairdeas to the 6th class quiz team on their fantastic achievement in the Cumann na mBunscol Louth Schools Quiz competition. John O’Brien, Taidhg Malone, Aoibhinn Boyle, Ryan Martin and Harry Netto represented St Peter’s NS when the winning teams of the previous week’s Quiz round met on Tuesday, 22nd November for the Louth School’s Final at St Mary’s NS, Knockbridge.

The standard of questions was difficult and the 15 school teams present rose to the challenge. Teams were close in the early rounds. However St Peter’s NS took the lead early on and continued to hold their lead for a glorious win on a score of 64/80. Here is a sample of the questions:

* What does a philatelist collect?
* A crash is the collective noun for which group of animals?
* Olan Bator is the capital city of which country?
* Subtract the 4th triangular number from the 6th square number.
* Name the most southerly GAA club in County Louth.

The team was well-supported by parents and friends who were ecstatic to hear that they had won the quiz for the larger schools in the county.
John O’Brien was delighted to receive the Corn Uí hAonghusa Cup on behalf of the team. It has been twelve years since the school last won this cup. The staff and children cheered for the team the following day as the team members raised the cup and walked a lap of honour at school assembly.

Well done to the five quiz champions and keep up the excellent work as you prepare for the next quiz in 2023.
