The Confirmation of 6th class pupils from St Peter’s NS and Scoil Dairbhre took place in St Peter’s Church, Dromiskin, on 23rd April. The main celebrant was Archbishop Eamon Martin, with Fr Gerry Campbell, our parish priest, and Fr Pat McEnroe, our curate, concelebrating.
In his homily, Archbishop Eamon Martin spoke about the eleven disciples and how the Holy Spirit gave them the gifts and courage to go forth and spread the Word of God. He encouraged the confirmandi to follow their example, reminding them that living out their faith is not a “Mission Impossible”
A sincere word of thanks is extended to the teachers, Mr. McComish, St Peter’s NS and Ms. Megan O’Brien, Scoil Dairbhre for their dedication and commitment in preparing the children for Confirmation Day. Their guidance ensured that the occasion was both meaningful and memorable.
We also wish to express our deep appreciation to Ms. Jane O’Hare, choir mistress, and Aiveen McKenna, organist, together with the choir of Scoil Dairbhre. Their beautiful singing and harmonies greatly enhanced the ceremony and contributed to the reverent and joyful atmosphere.
We are most grateful to Kevin, Marion, and Aileen, sacristans, for their ongoing support and service to the parish community, which is very much valued.
A special word of thanks is extended to our priests, Fr Gerry Campbell and Fr Patrick McEnroe, for their spiritual leadership and for presiding over such a meaningful and uplifting celebration.
We warmly acknowledge and thank all the families and friends who joined us on this special day to celebrate the confirmandi. Their presence added greatly to the sense of occasion, and the fine weather was an additional blessing.
Finally, we extend our sincere thanks to the Parents’ Council of both schools for providing refreshments afterwards. The individualised cupcakes were a thoughtful and much-enjoyed treat for the children.
