The Board of Management of St. Peter’s NS officially opened their new school,extension on Wednesday 24 October. Doing the honours was Chairperson of Louth County Council, Mr Liam Reilly. Liam is also a past pupil of St. Peter’s. The extension comprised two new classrooms, resource room, toilet for assisted users along with upgrades to offices and storage space. Also completed during the summer were classroom toilet upgrades and ceiling replacements in the old building with renovation of existing staff/public facilities. Present at the opening ceremony was consultant architect on the project, Paraic Mc Kevitt, and representatives from main contractors, Neacy Mechanical and Electrical from Dunleer. Both were commended for services rendered by Fr Pat Mc Enroe Chairperson of the Board of Management at the ceremony attended by a large gathering. Fr Mc Enroe also lauded the patience and support of teachers, pupils and parents over the past year before blessing the new building. The celebrations were preceded by the annual School mass in St. Peter’s Chapel and followed by refreshments in the school hall provided by the Parents’ Committee.

The Parent’s Committee also handed over a cheque to the school for €12,727 the proceeds of the successful Gala Black Tie Ball held in Bellingham Castle last year. Some of this money was used to do a very tasteful refurbishment of the GP Hall kitchen.
