Proposed St Peter’s NS Planting of Bank Area

We are very excited to be working with Dromiskin Tidy Towns, St Peter’s Parish Committee and our Parents’ Council in landscaping another section of the school/church grounds. Thank you to Kevin Halpenny, Landscape Consultant for providing a drawing of the bank area between the car park and back gate to the school/church grounds.

Thank you in advance to the volunteer Dromiskin Dads who will be clearing the bank tomorrow, Saturday 10th February of all trees, shrubs, briars, weeds etc to prepare the ground for landscaping. This is a ‘big ask’ as a lot of machinery will be used to help with the clearance and taking as much away before Kevin and his contractor step in for the next phase.

An application for funding has been made to Louth County Council and we hope this will be approved shortly. This funding will be used to provide biodegradable groundcover and planting of flowering cherry blossom trees. The current St Peter’s NS opened in 1976 and its Golden Jubilee will be celebrated in 2026. Each cherry blossom tree willl represent 10 years of the current school contribution to the Dromiskin Community. It is envisaged that more planting will be done as we approach the Golden Jubilee of our school and the Centenary of St Peter’s Church.

Many thanks to all members of our community involved in this exciting project.
