Intergenerational Garden

Intergenerational Garden 12th March
To celebrate European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations, past pupils from the Old School in Dromiskin, who featured in school photographs over 60 years ago, returned to their Alma Mater (built in 1927 and closed in 1976) visiting the boys and girls of Mr Mc Comish’s 3rd class who are currently based in what was the old hub of education for generations of people from Dromiskin. Some of the past pupils have grandchildren attending St. Peter’s at present and in an entertaining and informative visit shared their past experiences with their young counterparts in the very classroom which they graced many decades ago. Following this, both generations planted an array of beautiful plants and flowers in an area in front of the Old School. The local Fás workers had expertly prepared the ground to a design agreed by the Green School Committee. The plants and flowers were provided by Pamela Whittaker from Groundswell and will provide a colourful adornment around, what was Master Tom Mc Ardle’s, Master Jim Morgan Senior’s and Master Jim Morgan Junior’s old stomping grounds. A great day was had by all – young and old.
