Soccer Sixes Defeat

The boys soccer team were very unlucky on the 18th November when they were beaten in the final of the Soccer Sixes for the Brendan Watters Cup.

SPORTS DAY 2010

Once again, the highlight of Sport's Day was the Teacher vs. Sixth Class Pupils Football match. The teachers were triumphant with a 2-1 victory, although we lost our star player Mr. Mulligan in the final minutes. He was sent off for a dubious tackle on Adam (although he'll argue it was undeserved). More pictures and race information to follow shortly.

Check our SPORTS DAY PAGE for updated information.

If you have any pictures from the day, we'd appreciate you sending them in so we can feature them on the site.

Sixth Class Boys' Blitz

Sixth Class boys were in J.J.B on Thursday 26th November playing in the Brendan Watter’s Soccer Sixes Cup  and this is how the day unfolded.

Eight  of  us  entered  J.J.B  and  proceeded  to  do our  warm-up  exercises. Our first game was against Scoil Eoin Báiste. Our starting team was Christopher in goals, Ryan & Liam in backs, Adam & Dylan in midfield, Kieran in forwards and Aaron & Niall as inter-changeable subs. At half-time Scoil Eoin Báiste were trailing 2-1. We scored a third at the start of the second half and then another to make it 4-1. But they came back from what looked like a certain win for us. Liam received a head injury and he went off with Kieran moving into backs. Scoil Eoin Báiste kept on the pressure and amazingly drew level at 4-4 with time almost up. Indeed if it wasn’t for a goal-line clearance they would have gone ahead. The clearance caused a rush of momentum. Dromiskin kept the pressure on and Ryan broke free with the ball. He had Adam at his side but he kept going for goal and the ball finished in the back of the net – a 5-4 win for Dromiskin!

The next match was against the Gael Scoil. It was the same starting line-up as the last match. In the second-half we showed great determination to come from behind three times and eventually ended up victorious.

This was it! The final! A winner takes all game against Dulargy. Our hearts were pounding and nerves were high. This was one of our last chances to win something in our careers at St.Peter’s.

Once again it was the same starting line-up. We started well but they got the opening goal. We fought back and equalised. On came two monsters of lads. “Where did they get these two?”, we asked each other. Niall came on for Dylan and Aaron on for Kieran, the same as every other match. Dulargy really wanted to retain their title, but we wanted it more. We kept going and got another goal. Then they scored and we thought they had their hands on the cup. But we kept persevering and with one last superhuman effort we scored two unanswered goals. Dulargy replied with a late score but it was too late – Dromiskin were the winners of the Brendan Watters Super Sixes Cup! After the final whistle there were great celebrations. Like true sportsmen Dulargy held their heads high and congratulated us and we congratulated them and said: “Hard luck, you gave us a great game.”

Mr. Gallagher, their principal, presented our captain Adam, who was also the top scorer, with the trophy. We also received individual medals.

When we arrived back we did a tour of the school with the trophy and medals. We would like to thank Paddy and Mr. Mulligan for bringing us out and coaching us, and especially the other teams for giving us a great day.

School Gaelic League 2008

We started our league in September with six teams made up of boys and girls from 4th, 5th, and 6th classes. Each team played ten games and then the top four teams played in the semi finals. The final was played on Wednesday 10th December. It was cold but the sun was shining and the pitch was in good shape. After an exciting battle Caitlin’s Dominators beat Tara’s Louth to claim the Cuchulainn Shield. Winners and losers received medals. The shield was presented by Louth County Board secretary, our very own, Mr. Hamilton.

Basketball Blitz

The boys played on Thursday 23d April. They won one match and lost their second match.

The girls played on Friday 24th April. They were extremely unlucky in their first match against Kilkerly as the match went to extra time and the girls lost in the last ten seconds. In the second match, the girls once again played an amazing game and came extremely close to victory but lost by a single basket.
