Halloween

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 We wrote fireworks poems
Fireworks by Ciarán
Fireworks, fireworks
Explosions in the air.
Fireworks, fireworks
Look over there.
Fireworks, fireworks
They never stop.
They just never stop
They just go POP.
Our Nature Walk
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

We went on a nature walk around our school grounds to look for signs of autumn. We saw blackberries, and the leaves were beginning to change to brown, yellow and orange. We chose a beech tree in our grounds which we will observe throughout each season. Have a look at our photos below!

Here are red berries we found.

 This is an evergreen tree.

Look at the leaves changing colour.   In Autumn you can find juicy Blackberries.

Here is the tree we chose to study! It is a beech tree.

After we had collected different types of leaves, we studied these leaves through leaf rubbings.
We used magnifying glasses to look more closely at our leaves.

To investigate colour and pattern we painted a colour wash over the leaf rubbings.

In this leaf study we used oil pastels, leaves, wax crayons, paint, brushes and magnifying glasses.

Planting Bulbs

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We wrote up our planting experiment
Here are some photos of our planting
Firstly we cleared the pots of weeds
Then we put fresh compost into the pots and mixed it with the soil.
 Here we are with our bulbs ready to plant.
We then dug a hole with the trowel and planted the bulb with the pointy side up.
We covered the bulb with soil and watered them. Now we will have to wait and see if our Tulip bulbs grow in Spring.
Our Class Library
We love reading and every day have after lunch we have ‘DEAR’ time (Drop Everything And Read ).
