Group with Ms Larney - CopyA national title is not easily won so imagine the joy when Dromiskin NS was awarded Walking School of the Year 2015 at the Big Travel Challenge Awards held in the Radisson Blu Hotel in Dublin on Wednesday April 29th.

Ms Larney and four members of our excellent Green School committee travelled to the capital to collect the award and to make a presentation of Dromiskin’s participation in an Taisce’s Big Travel Challenge 2015. They were accompanied by Mary Murtagh, Louth County Council who has worked tireslessly throughout County Louth to promote all things environmentally friendly. The presentation included photographs, statistics, a striking video created by Dromiskin Tidy Towns’s Henry Murtagh, our Golden Boot and of course WOOF the dog.

Our young pupils impressed the adjudicators with their enthusiasm, passion and knowledge and did our school and Green School co-ordinator, Ms Larney, proud. They received a beautiful plaque, certificate, cheque for €500, but most importantly a bag of goodies and a slap up meal!!

Many thanks to all our pupils, parents, teachers and of course our Green School Committee for rising to this challenge and proving once again what is possible when we all work together – Ní neart go cur le chéile!!
