IMG_6098WE RECEIVED OUR 8th GREEN FLAG – GLOBAL CITIZENSHIP – ENERGY ON TUESDAY MAY 24th 2016 IN THE HELIX THEATRE, DCU, DUBLIN. MANY THANKS TO ALL THE CHILDREN AND STAFF WHO HELPED OVER THE PAST TWO YEARS

Global Citizenship enables us to discover how the Green-Schools programme has positively influenced people and their environments worldwide. We have completed our first Global Citizenship flag which focused on Litter and Waste. In 2014/15 and 2015/16 our focus was on Global Citizenship – Energy

We have reviewed our energy usage and looked at ways in which we can improve. In particular we have looked at our gas and electricity usage. We have also studied our carbon emissions and we are working on trying to reduce these. Our Green School committee has conducted surveys with parents and pupils and used this information to target different areas  such as Climate Change, Renewable Energy and Water Conservation.

IMG_6103We have also encouraged all pupils to see themselves as citizens of the world, not just Dromiskin or Ireland. Their actions can make a difference in such areas as Global Warming, pollution and poverty helping the world we live in.
