June 22 saw the long awaited final of our annual Public Speaking Competition for children in 6th class. After qualifying rounds and semi finals 32 boys and girls from Ms Keane’s class were whittled down to nine who prepared diligently to perform in front of an expectant audience in the packed school hall.

We had 5 girls and 4 boys and topics ranged from pets, unusual foods, family, personal and school experiences. Adjudicator Ms Boyle commented on the very high standard throughout and praised the children’s courage, confidence, diction and humour. The audience enthusiastically agreed with Ms Boyle’s comments.

Aoife was a popular winner with Kayleigh Ann and Niamh in second and third place respectively. There were certificates for all the speakers and special awards went to Jack and Ami for their efforts.

Well done to all and a special thank you to Ms Keane and Ms Boyle for their help and assistance.
