Greg Beardsell video

What a breathtaking show we had in the RDS, Dublin at the 2018 Peace Proms on February 4th! Our school choir led by Ms Farrell and assisted by Ms Larney, Ms O Rourke, Ms Halpenney and Ms Loughran joined over 1,300 other school children from around Ireland to perform with the renowned Cross Border Orchestra. There were over 4,000 in the audience and they were entertained royally for two and a half hours by a dazzling array of music, song and dance!

Masterminded by charismatic conductor Greg Beardsell, there was something in this extravaganza for everyone. We were entertained by all-Ireland champion Uilleann Piper Cormac Mac Aodhagáin; blown away by power-house  soloist Lauren Murphy, mesmerised by soprano Katie Weir, dazzled by Louth’s virtuoso rock-violinist Patricia Treacy, and captivated by tenor Ross Scanlon.

The line up of performers also included a spectacular array of champion highland dancers, 13 year old world champion Irish dancer Diarmuid Mc Shane and the World Champion Colmcille Pipe and Drum Corps from Derry.

Our young singers threw themselves heart and soul in to their performances and they were a credit to their choir mistress Ms Farrell, the school and their parents. Certainly all her hard work and missed lunches paid off as they made a wonderful contribution to the huge Cross Border Choir.

Many thanks to Ms Farrell’s colleagues who travelled to Dublin to assist and to the parents who travelled in large numbers also.
