On the 28th of February 2016 our school choir went to Belfast to sing at the Peace Proms.

Since early this year we have been practising our songs during lunch time. Soon we were learning the actions to match them. In January we went up to Queen’s University Belfast to go to a workshop with lots of other schools. We had a great day there.

Yesterday morning the choir came to school at 11a.m.and got on the bus to head off to the SSE Arena Belfast. When we arrived we were brought to our seats and ate our lunch. After that, we had our last rehearsal and then we waited for the audience to arrive. Once it started we had great fun singing and dancing, and listening to the soloists. At one point we got a nice surprise when the Star Wars characters came out on stage!!! It was brilliant. Then Brian Kennedy came out and sang “You raise Me Up”! There were people playing bagpipes and there were Irish dancers too . One of the soloists was Patricia Treacy (who played violin), and the conductor was Greg Beardsell. We sang with the Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland. When we sang “Imagine” the arena went dark and the audience turned on flashlights on their phones. There were three and a half thousand children and altogether there were eight thousand people. When we sang Uptown Funk we put on sunglasses….. The audience loved it! At the end, everybody stood up and sang “Ireland’s Call”.

We had a great day up in Belfast!                         Our Pictures
