img_8448Ms Keane and 6th class pulled out all the stops to make this year’s Jumble Sale one of the most successful ever held. They spent weeks gathering all sorts of Jumble from all the classes all over the school. They collected everything from an anchor to a needle – they even had a full drum kit waiting for some lucky customer!!

Next they launched a catchy advertising and marketing campaign to promote their big event. Every child in the school knew what was happening, knew that there were all sorts of bargains and most importantly knew to bring in plenty of jingle to snap up the best deals on the day. There was a preview in the evenings before hand for parents to raise even more awareness.

img_8449On Friday 9 December the GP room was turned in to an Aladdin’s cave full of toys, games, books and bric a brac. We had a chocolate fountain and lots of delicious sandwiches, buns and sweets. Pride of place went to a beautiful gingerbread village made by the Fanning family. Classes from Junior Infants to 5th flocked to the hall and spent the day dealing, huckstering and bargaining!!  Children left with bags of goodies but most importantly large smiles on their faces.

img_8461By 2pm everyone was shopped out and now it was time for the big clean up and for Anne to tally up all the money. Sixth class and Ms Keane showed great team work in leaving the PE room spic and span and recycling all the papers and plastic. The left over toys were picked up by a very kind Michael Galligan in his lorry and taken out to the Vincent De Paul.

By home time Anne had finally waded through all the notes and coins and with a mixture of amazement and pride announced that Jumble Sale 2016 had raised the new record figure of €2,200!. Ms Keane and her class were absolutely thrilled as was Mr Mulligan who commended their wonderful effort.

The class compiled a thank you note to all the wonderful parents who supported this year’s event.
