As part of Catholic Schools’ Week celebrations Ms Halpenny’s 1st class held a Grandparents’ afternoon on Wednesday 31st January 2018. A large crowd of Mums, Grandads, Nanas and Grandmothers received a loving and enthusiastic welcome from their children and grandchildren.

The afternoon began with a prayer, a poem and a slideshow of all the activities in First Class. There were Prayers of the Faithful and a lovely version of “Circle of Friends”.

The children then had a question and answer session with their Grandparents. They were amazed at what some of them ate for their lunch and were very quick to point out that we have healthy eating now in St. Peter’s! The lack of holidays long ago horrified the children and they were amazed to hear that there were no whiteboards or computers many years ago unlike today where we are so dependent on technology. The children really enjoyed the tales that were told – we hope all of them were true!

The children presented their beloved grandparents with cards which they had designed and written. The afternoon finished with a cup of tea, coffee, biscuits, lovely cake from Madge Reilly and of course a good old natter!!

Many thanks to Ms Halpenny, Carmel and 1st class for organising the event and Anne Mc Guinness for the catering. What a great way to celebrate Catholic Schools’ Week! Click link for pictures.
