Monday evening, Monday 29th January 2018, saw Dromiskin school hall packed with children, parents and teachers from Scoil Dairbhre and St. Peter’s, Dromiskin, for the local final of the annual Credit Union quiz. There were 23 teams competing in the “A” (U.11) and “B” (U.13) sections comprising children from 4th, 5th and 6th classes from both schools.
This was a testing quiz with questions ranging from general knowledge to History, Geography, Science, Maths, Art and Entertainment, Sport as well as technology. The U.13 age group saw a ding dong battle between St Peters and a strong Darver team before the Dromiskin team finished strongly to emerge as winners. The U.11 section was too close to call with two teams from Dromiskin and a strong Darver quartet battling it out in a fierce tussle. Eventually St Peter’s snapped up the first two places with Scoil Dairbhre a close third
There were prizes for the top three teams in each sector and the winners progress to the Chapter finals (schools from Louth, Monaghan and Cavan) which take place in the Nuremore Hotel on Sunday 4th March 2018.
Also presented on the night were the prizes for the Art competition which took place before Christmas. They were spread between both schools and once again the artistic talent in Dromiskin and Darver was there to be admired.
