Friday 25th November saw the eagerly awaited boys’ GAA football league final between the Ballers and the Notorious Ones. Six teams started off in September and after nearly 3 months of top class action we finally reached the decider.

This was a fierce contest. Captains Cian and Nathan had their teams well prepared and it was nip and tuck all the way. A feature of the match was the excellent tackling and blocking by both teams as well as some brilliant finishing – goals and points. However, there could only be one winner and in the end it was the Notorious Ones who pulled clear to take the 2016 title. It was lovely to see the sportsmanship after the match with handshakes and hugs between victors and the vanquished.

Mr Hamilton and Mr Mc Comish presented medals and cup to winners and losers. Captain Nathan gave a rousing three cheers to his opponents and thanked the teachers for refereeing the league each day. Coach Mr Mc Comish thanked and praised all the boys from 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th classes who had taken part in the competition. He commented on the high standard and the skills that had been put on display throughout. He  mentioned specially the sense of fair play and sportsmanship displayed throughout the year.

We’re looking forward to next years league already!!
