Eight teams with boys and girls from 5th and 6th classes took part in this year’s basketball league. The standard continues to get better year after year with all the wonderful skills of the game on display – two handed dribbling, passing, lay ups, free throws and three point shooting. Anne, Ms Lambert, Mr Mc Comish and Liby Dynamites’ coaching is certainly paying off!!

The league this year was very competitive with a play off required to settle the list of semi-finalists. After two titanic struggles it was the Kobes and New Jordans, who reached the decider which took place Thursday May 10th 2018. At stake were lovely trophies and medals as a reward for the effort that these teams had put in to reach the final.

The decider was very competitive with a score of 7-4 at half time the difference between the teams being a spectacular three point score that grew gasps of admiration from the spectators. Defences were on top and the tackling throughout was teak tough. However as the second half progressed it was the New Jordans that powered ahead and won the title on  a scoreline of 15-7. It was lovely to see the sportsmanship and warm congratulations of both teams after the final whistle.

Well done to all who took part in the league and special thanks to our final referee and school coach Anne.
