In 2007 St. Peter’s NS received an apple tree as a present from a Primary School in Armagh – the Orchard County. It was planted by Paddy Mc Donnell past-principal of Haggardstown who was subbing in Dromiskin at the time. The tree is located just outside the PE hall and Ms. Loughran’s room.

Over the years the tree grew big and strong and for a while now has been producing magnificent cooking apples. The boys and girls in Ms Loughran’s  class noticed big juicy fruit hanging down and they decided that they would love to make lovely apple tarts.

Ms Loughran got the recipe and ingredients to make the pastry and on Friday 23rd September they set to work in the school kitchen. They used flour, butter, eggs, sugar and milk. In jig time they were producing fantastic tarts and even treated the staff to one at lunch time.

We all know the dessert treats in Dromiskin this weekend!!
